Bridge Celebrates Graduation 2025!

On Jun 2, 2025, Bridge celebrated 28 graduates of the HiSET (High School Equivalency Test) and the high school diploma/certificate program. The ceremony took place at Suffolk Law School, where 12 of the graduates, decked out on their caps and gowns, convened to receive their certificates of academic achievement.

The ceremony began with opening remarks from Karen Morton, Chair of the Bridge Over Troubled Waters Board of Directors, who congratulated the graduates and welcomed them to the Bridge 2025 Graduation Ceremony.

Karen’s opening was followed by a few words from Bridge Academy Associate Director Diana Saintil, who reminded the graduates that: “Today is more than a ceremony. It’s a celebration of resilience, of courage, and of triumph over adversity. It’s a moment to honor not just academic achievement, but the strength it took to get here, mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.”

Next to the microphone was our graduation guest speaker, Davo Jefferson, Executive Director of PowerCorps Boston, a ten-month workforce development program that provides young adults with training, career readiness, and connections to employers in the green industry. He shared the story of his own unconventional journey to success and advised graduates that: “You’re gonna encounter hurdles, you might stumble along the way, but you have to be able to get up, wipe yourself off and move forward. Demonstrate a sense of resilience and the ability to bounce back!”

Following these words, the 12 graduates present processed to receive their certificates and pose for photos, after which the crowd heard from Caty*, the Bridge 2025 Valedictorian. “Each of us has our own reasons for wanting this credential,” she said. “Some of us want to go to college, some want to get a better job, and some want to finish something important for ourselves. Whatever our reasons, we all took on the challenge and made it to graduation. This credential means something special to all of us. It shows that even when things were tough, we worked hard and didn’t give up. It’s something that we can all be proud of, and it will help us as we move forward to achieve our next goals.”

Finally, Education Manager Seann Macnamara closed the ceremony, saying “Graduates, as you leave the ceremony, remember that your journey continues. Carry forward the lessons you’ve learned, the friendships you’ve made, and the values you’ve embraced. Boston and the world await your talent, your ideas, and your leadership.”

The event was truly memorable for all, from the heartfelt and inspiring speeches to the cheers from the graduates’ family, friends, and of course Bridge team members. This is one of the most special events in the Bridge calendar, as it is a tangible reminder of the amazing progress our young adults can achieve during their time at Bridge.
